MELBOURNE, VICTORIA, 26 MAY 2015 - Operations Feedback Systems (OFS) a leading provider of real time productivity improvement software, announced today that it has been named as a Gartner 2015 Cool Vendor for Manufacturing.
According to Gartner, "Manufacturers must be able to digitally access and manage increasingly large volumes and varieties of manufacturing data produced at different velocities to understand and then improve product and process design and performance in a more informed fashion ... The amount of content and data that is not corralled in manufacturing operations is staggering. Gartner estimates that, on average, 70% of the data generated in the production environment (either by the production processes directly or through audits and inspections) is never put to plausible use. In turn, organizations do not have a complete understanding of their processes or product content. This prevents targeted improvements and systemic adjustments to production processes, product designs and other continuous improvement efforts."
In the report's analysis of why OFS is cool, Gartner found: "OFS trends the operator observations through a tag cloud to identify the most common or most pressing issues. This combination of unstructured data (observations) with structured (machine) data helps continuous improvement teams improve decision making, as it relates to both asset performance and process optimization by providing a precise method to identify what issues need attention. This is a differentiator and what makes OFS cool. Moreover, OFS provides line-side employees with a formal voice in the overall continuous improvement process. Customers are enamored with the simplicity of the system, from the subscription-based pricing to the visibility into process performance/OEE through dashboard tools (which in and of itself provides the initial payback)."
